ABOUT AINA
Described as possessing a warm and vibrant sound and praised for her elegant yet expressive and playful interpretations, international mezzo-soprano Aina Miyagi Magnell graduated in 2024 from her Master of Arts at Guildhall School of Music and Drama, London.
In 2026 Aina is making her house debut with Nederlandse Reisoper as Tamara in To Die For by Elena Langer. She is also making her role debut as Dorabella in Cosí fan tutte with Opera Holland Park, UK, as their Young Artist.
She was an Alvarez Emerging Artist singing at Garsington Opera 2025, UK, as cover Masha in “The Queen of Spades” and also chorus in “the Queen of Spades”, “L’elesir d’amore” and “Fidelio” and in 2024 made her house debut at the Stockholm Volksoper, Sweden, in the commissioned opera “Herr Arnes Pennigar” by Peter Nordahl premiering in September 2024.
Aina has been part of several opera productions including singing the role of Zweite Dame Die Zauberflöte (Nevill Holt Festival) Pang Turandot (Arcola Theatre, Grimeborn Festival) Hänsel Hänsel & Gretel, Octavian Die Rosenkavalier and Siebel Faust (Guildhall Scenes), Der Boy in Kurt Weill’s Der Zar lässt sich photographieren (Silk Street Theatre) and Prince Orlovsky Die Fledermaus (Silk Street Music Hall).
Aina has also performed in venues such as Opera Holland Park with British Youth Opera, Barbican Concert Hall with London Symphony Orchestra and Milton Court Concert Hall for BBC Radio 3.
She was a Josephine Baker Trust artist, part of Pegasus Opera Company’s Mentorship Programme as well as Opera Studio Leipzig Autumn Seminar Season 2023. She is a keen recital and oratorio singer, appearing in venues across UK, Germany and Sweden.
